Erica Daniels

CEO | EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

JANUARY 2025

Erica Daniels is Cree/Ojibway from Peguis First Nation. She is a proud mother, a multi-award winning documentary filmmaker and entrepreneur. Erica established her media company, Kejic Productions, in 2017. She is passionate about sharing heart-centered stories that amplify Indigenous voices, while focusing upon healing, cultural revitalization, knowledge preservation and social change.

Erica started her journey through Just TV, a multimedia program for at-risk youth in the inner city of Winnipeg, through this program, Erica was able to better her life and gain extensive skills in the media industry. Erica is also an alumna of the CBC New Indigenous Voices and NSI IndigiDocs programs. Through her work with Kejic Productions, Erica has been recognized by receiving the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business’ Young Indigenous Entrepreneur Award in 2020, winner of the 2022 Pow Wow Pitch International Business Competition and was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022. Erica’s documentary work has received two Golden Sheaf Awards in 2018 and most recently a Canadian Screen Award in 2023.  

Erica has been a volunteer of the Turtle Lodge International House of Knowledge in Sagkeeng First Nation and was honoured to receive guidance from many Elders internationally, in particularly the Late Elder Dave Courchene Jr, whom Erica had the honour of video documenting for over 13 years. Erica continues to follow and be guided by the teachings of her Elders in all the work she does today. Erica is also committed to uplifting Indigenous youth by helping them reclaim their cultural identity through stories and ceremony. She is the co-creator and facilitator of Spirit of the Story, a film training program for Indigenous youth the runs year-round.

Inspired by the resilience of her community and the beauty of her culture, she embraces the important role of sharing Indigenous history and culture and she values the preservation of teachings shared by Elders in hopes to teach and inspire future generations.
